Betsy Vega qualified to serve on Salem City Council, per city officials 

The city of Salem announced Tuesday that Salem City Councilor-elect Betsy Vega can serve because, despite becoming effectively homeless during the election, she never established a new residence outside the ward she was elected to represent. 

City Recorder Amy Johnson made the final determination based on a recommendation from a Eugene-based municipal law attorney, Truman A. Stone, who found no “convincing evidence of ineligibility.”
