Reworld Marion, formerly known as Covanta, will shut down its garbage incinerator near Brooks on December 31. The incinerator currently burns a large portion of garbage from Marion County homes and businesses, which will go to the Coffin Butte Landfill starting next year.

700 Salem preschoolers get toy trucks hand-crafted by seniors
A decades-old program puts seniors at Capital Manor retirement community to work, spending most of the year crafting and painting wooden toy trucks. The trucks are then gifted to area preschoolers who are in the local Head Start program.
