Seismic upgrades are underway at the Salem Civic Center

The city of Salem invited Salem Reporter to see the significant progress made on upgrades to the Salem Civic Center.
The $45-million project was approved by voters in 2022. Construction started last July, with a focus on improving the seismic integrity and accessibility of the building.
Funding for improvements came from a Safety and Livability Bond that allocated $39 million for the upgrades. Supplemental funding was requested from the city council for electrical issues discovered…
