TSA pulls out of Salem airport as new commercial airline has yet to materialize

The federal Transportation Security Administration is pulling its Salem-based staff out of the city-run airport as aviation advocates have so far failed to secure a new airline to operate commercial flights.
City officials were informed Tuesday that the TSA would no longer regulate the airport, said Jason Roberts, spokesman for the city Public Works Department. Salem lost its federal status after a November deadline to identify an airline came and went.
