A 16-year-old boy was shot and seriously injured in east Salem Monday evening, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies responded to a report of a shooting around 6:50 p.m. on Northeast Auburn Road near Clarmar Drive and found the injured teenager at a gas station a few blocks away, spokesman Jeremy Landers said.

Landers said investigators don’t believe it was a random act of violence. No suspects were identified in the news release and no arrests have been made.

The teenager was taken to Salem Hospital with serious injuries.

Investigators are asking anyone living in the area that may have surveillance video of the incident to contact the Marion County Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at 503-540-8079 or submit a tip anonymously at https://www.co.marion.or.us/SO/Pages/tip411.aspx.

Monday’s shooting was the second unsolved shooting of a Salem teen in the last month. In September, 18-year-old Andrew Ray Rosas was shot and killed at Hoover School City Park in east Salem.
