Update, Sept. 24, 6 p.m.: Salem police said Andrew Ray Rosas, 18, of Salem was killed in the Tuesday night shooting at Hoover School Park. The second victim, an 18-year-old woman, remains in stable condition. Police have not named her or released other details about what took place.

Rosas was a student at McKay High School, according to a statement on the school website from Principal Rob Schoepper.

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of Andrew. He will always be a part of our school, our community and our McKay family," Schoepper wrote.

Salem police are investigating a shooting that left one person dead and another wounded in a northeast Salem park Tuesday night.

Police said a man and a woman were "struck by gunfire" in the Hoover School Park around 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, according to a news release. The park is adjacent to Hoover Elementary School in northeast Salem, in the 1200 block of Northeast Savage Road.

The release did not say whether a third person is suspected of shooting the victims or provide other details about what took place. Police spokeswoman Lt. Debbie Aguilar said she didn't have more information available to share when contacted by Salem Reporter.

Medics transported both victims to Salem Hospital, where one victim later died. The second victim is in stable condition, police said.
