Good evening, Salem.
The fire department provided no details about where the fire occurred in a statement Tuesday, only saying the apartment was in Ward 3.
Agency spokesman Brian Carrara could not be reached for comment about the location of the fire or what caused it.
Firefighters responded to the blaze around 8:47 p.m. Monday and found black smoke coming from a second-floor apartment.
“Firefighters acted quickly—crews worked to extinguish the fire, while others assisted in evacuating nearby apartments and ensured the safety of everyone. The fire was quickly knocked down and confined to just one room,” according to the statement.
No one was injured in the fire, but two adults, two children and three pets were displaced. The Red Cross sent a team to help the family.
Fire investigators and the Salem Police Department responded to investigate what caused the fire, according to the statement.
