Good evening, Salem.

A city test of a new water connection to Keizer’s supply in late January was successful, officials announced Monday.

Salem drew 23 million gallons from Keizer’s supply between Jan. 26 and 30. It’s part of a larger effort to beef up Salem’s water system in advance of a planned drawdown of Detroit Lake late next year.

We took a look inside the new Keizer link last month to explain how it works, and we’re continuing to watch plans for the drawdown closely.
