Good morning, Salem.
They are among 13 couples getting married today by Marion County Justice of the Peace Justin Kidd in a courtroom decorated for Halloween. Last year, Kidd dressed up as a Jedi to officiate 10 weddings, and some of the couples dressed up too. Salem Reporter photographed a wedding between two people in lobster costumes.
Many of this year’s couples will also be in costume for their ceremony, including one couple who will wear skeleton onesies.
“Halloween is like my Super Bowl,” Emily Bloink, who’s getting married as a skeleton today, said.
Reporter Madeleine Moore spoke with two of the couples getting married ahead of their ceremonies. The couples shared plenty of love for Halloween and heartfelt appreciation for Kidd, who makes a court wedding a fun and festive occasion.
