Good morning, Salem.

Tonight, the Salem City Council will meet to discuss ways to make utility fees more fair for homes and businesses.

Staff are looking for ways to better match each property’s usage of city services when calculating fees. Currently, large and small businesses pay the same rate. Tonight, councilors are considering the future of policy changes to rates and goals for revenue.

We’ll have a story with more information later today. See the city’s description of the meeting here.

The meeting starts at 6 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, Feb. 17, and will be in-person at the Loucks Auditorium at the Salem Public Library, 585 Liberty St. S.E. It will also be available to stream on YouTube.
