ICE demands information on 19 people from Marion County, court filing shows

Federal immigration agents are seeking information on 19 people in Marion County, again putting the county between state and federal laws, a new court filing shows.
A special agent in the Portland office of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement served an administrative subpoena to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office on Jan. 22, requiring information including individual’s home addresses, phone numbers and employers.

If the FEDS have the names they should have been at the door when these offenders were released by the Department of Corrections. And there are so many ways to get this information on your own with creating a political stink. I hope the county doesn’t back down. And I want to take this opportunity to remind everyone that our very own Commissioner Bethell caused this. The same commissioner who contacted county law enforcement and circuit court judges when one of her kids got cited for driving offenses. The same commissioner who sought free legal advice from the county commissioner when she chose to vote on a resolution involving another separate family member.

Yeah, the current situation is not the fault of Danielle, as it predates her first term as Commissioner by quite a bit. Oregon became a sanctuary state in 1987 and then passed the stronger Sanctuary Promise Act (a state-level act) on July 19, 2021. Roughly 7 months after Danielle was sworn in for her first term as COUNTY Commissioner.
