Your Monday evening update on Salem news

Good evening, Salem.
Legislators are back at the Capitol for a whirlwind 35-day session with a long to-do list.
Over the occasional bangs of construction, Senators on Monday morning listened to a rendition of “Hallelujah” from the Portland State University choir before taking up administrative business and heading to committee hearings.
We’ll keep you posted on key issues lawmakers are working on through our partners at Oregon Capital Chronicle. Our team will also monitor legislation of particular importance to Salem, like Rep. Tom Andersen’s push to collect a yearly payment from the state to cover public safety costs.

Here’s some of today’s news. You can always find our latest reports anytime on our website.
