PHOTOS: Salem takes the plunge for Special Olympics

Clad in tutus, construction vests and costumes paying tribute to Barbie and Thor, dozens of Salemites took the plunge over the weekend.

The annual Polar Plunge at Illahe Hills Country Club is a fundraiser for Special Olympics Oregon, inviting participants to don costumes in teams, run a 5K and jump in an icy pool for the cause. The Saturday event raised nearly $70,000, according to the event page.
