Good morning, Salem.

Starting today, a Cherriots bus ticket will cost the same whether you’re going a few blocks toward downtown, or 30 miles away to Wilsonville.

Fare for Cherriots regional routes has been reduced to match the price of local routes, and passes are now universal for the bus system.

Adult fare is $1.60 for a ride or $3.25 for a day pass.

Reduced fare for riders who have a disability, are over age 60 or are on Medicare is 80 cents for a ride or $1.50 for a day pass.

Riders will have the option to pay by card or tap, starting today. The district said it’s another move which aims to make the bus more accessible. Read our story on that here.
