Your Friday evening update on Salem news

Good evening from your team at Salem Reporter.
If you want to enjoy your weekend, don’t look at your gas charges or your 401K statement. It’s been a rough week for consumers on both fronts.
In Salem, Oregon AAA reported yet another jump in the price of a regular gallon of gasoline to $5.36. A week ago, you could buy it for $4.80. Diesel prices held steady for the week at $5.45 a gallon.
And Wall Street wasn’t kind to investors. On Friday, the Dow Jones dropped 500 points to 28,725. That’s just 10 points above the market’s low for the past year but for September, the Dow had its worst month since March 2020.
The best short-term thing you can do is get outdoors and don’t look at any bank or investor statements. Temperatures in Salem will be in the mid-80s.
