Good morning, Salem, and happy 2026!

Neighborhood leaders will gather again next week to talk about how strengthening families can help students achieve in school.

Western University of Health Sciences Lebanon Oregon

Community Business and Education Leaders is hosting the event as part of a regular series of meetings intended to bring community leaders together with grassroots and neighborhood groups.

“As neighborhoods grow safer, more connected, and more supportive, grass-tops leaders, especially in public safety, housing, education, health care, business, and the faith community, can align with grassroots neighborhood leadership to move from fragile gains to lasting progress,” the event description online said.

Speakers include Justin Hopkins, executive director of the Willamette Health Council, Imelda Sanchez of the Kennedy Family Neighborhood Council and Rich Kansky, president of Green Acres Landscape.

The event will be on Thursday, Jan. 8, from 8-9:30 a.m. It will be hosted at The REC by Valor Mentoring, located at 3500 River Rd. N in Keizer. Register for the event online here.
