A person was shot and killed in northeast Salem Monday afternoon, according to a news release from the Salem Police Department.

Police said one person was detained in the 3300 block of Northeast Pipebend Place around 1:30 p.m. Spokesman Lt. Treven Upkes wouldn’t say if the person who was detained is a suspect.

The release said there is no threat to the general public.

The shooting is the third is recent weeks. Last week, a teenager was seriously injured from a gunshot in east Salem. No suspects have been identified in that case.
