Men’s roller derby skaters from across the world are coming to town this weekend for their world championship tournament.

Western University of Health Sciences Lebanon Oregon

The event will feature Concussion Roller Derby, a Salem and Eugene-based co-ed league which is competing and also putting on the event.

That’s just one unique offering in Salem this weekend. Hailey Cook gathered more below, and she caught up with Salem’s skaters last night to learn more about their tournament. Look for that story later today.

CAN YOU TRUST THE MEDIA?: Les Zaitz, Salem Reporter editor, will examine the current state of the media and lack of trust by Americans in a presentation to the Salem City Club. According to the program notice, “Les Zaitz will help sort out how to decide you can trust a news source and when you should treat a source with deep skepticism. Facts matter. Les will explain why.”

He is scheduled to speak at noon Friday, Oct. 10, at Willamette Heritage Center (Dye House) 1313 Mill St. S.E. The public session is free for club members and $10 for others. (Register here). Les will be taking questions as well, so join him for this important topic.
