Progressives take early lead in most Salem City Council races, initial counts show

UPDATE: This story was updated Wednesday morning with the latest election results from Marion County. 

Progressive candidates are holding onto leads in three of four races for Salem City Council after a third release of ballot counts early Wednesday morning. 

Tonight’s election will determine who steers the city of Salem through a rocky city budget, makes major decisions on housing development and leads the city’s response to  homelessness.
