CITY MEETING: Councilors approve $1.5 million from infrastructure bond for civic center electrical upgrades

Monday night, Salem city councilors authorized $1.5 million in unallocated infrastructure bond dollars to fix electrical issues discovered during seismic retrofit work on the Salem Civic Center.
The funding was authorized in a unanimous vote. Salem City Councilor Shane Matthews was absent.
The money for the work will come from the $300 million infrastructure bond approved by voters in 2022, as recommended by the Salem Bond Oversight Committee last month.
