Second motorcyclist arrested after shots fired in front of police

Salem police arrested a second motorcyclist Wednesday who is accused of firing a gun in the air in front of police who were investigating stolen motorcycles last week.
Brian Lee English, 28, of Salem, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon, menacing and being a felon in possession of a firearm in Marion County Circuit Court Thursday.
Police officers were investigating stolen motorcycles at a storage facility in the 1800 block of Southeast 22nd Street on July 11.
Detectives found a stolen motorcycle and arrested two adults and one teenager.
Two adults and one teenager tried to escape in a vehicle but were arrested, according to police.
As police investigated, two motorcyclists drove up near the storage unit, according to a police statement. One of the men fired a gun in the air in plain view of officers.
The two motorcyclists fled. After a chase, police arrested Zayn Free Bristow, 25, of Mill City. A second motorcyclist, who police later identified as English, escaped.
English was located Wednesday outside of a residence in the 1500 block of Northeast B Street. After he tried to flee he was caught shortly after and arrested.
A backpack was seized near where English was hiding from police and officers found a handgun inside, according to a police statement.
English is lodged in the Marion County Jail as of Thursday afternoon in lieu of $30,000 bond.
