YOUR GOVERNMENT: Marion County Commissioners consider insurance contract, pipe inspection van

The Marion County Board of Commissioners meets Wednesday to consider a contract with a Portland-based insurance agency and purchasing a television van to inspect east Salem’s stormwater pipes.

Commissioners will consider approving a $323,100 contract with Brown and Brown Northwest to provide insurance broker and consulting services for Marion County’s employee benefits for three years.

The board will consider purchasing a $158,600 closed-circuit television pipe van from CUES, Inc. for visual inspection of the 82-plus miles of pipe in the east Salem stormwater system.

They will also hear a presentation of colors by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Chapter 661, as well as a presentation about the county’s new web page with services and activities for veterans living in Marion County and their families.

Commissioners will consider approving a proclamation designating Marion County as a Purple Heart County.

The board will also consider appointing Rhett Martin as the compliance officer and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act officer for privacy, security and complaints for Marion County’s Health and Human Services Department.
