Your Wednesday evening update on Salem news

Good evening, Salem.
Nearly 1,000 student musicians will compete at Sprague High School this Saturday, in the 40th annual Pacific Coast Invitational marching band competition.
The competition began in 1981, and in its long history has hosted over 350 high school bands. This year, every local high school’s marching band will participate, plus nine other Oregon schools.
The competition starts at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30, and finals will be at 4 p.m. Sprague High School is located at 2373 Kuebler Blvd S.
All-day wristbands are $15 for adults, $10 for students and seniors and $5 for children 11 and under. A free shuttle is available from the overflow parking lot at Kaiser Permanente, 5125 Skyline Rd S.
