The Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife’s annual stamp contest is upon us, and you have a chance to see submissions this weekend.
Every year, the state agency sponsors three art contests for new work to adorn collector stamps: the Habitat Conservation Stamp, the Waterfowl Stamp and the Upland Game Bird Stamp.
Salem Reporter’s Managing Editor Rachel Alexander will be among the judges of this year’s contest Saturday morning at the Bush Barn Art Center, 600 Mission St. S.E. in Bush’s Pasture Park. Come check out the artwork in a special show following judging from 12-4 p.m.
Also, a reminder that Daylight Saving Time ends at 2 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 5. Set your clocks back one hour and enjoy the extra hour of sleep before winter darkness sets in.
Here are some of today’s stories. You can always find our latest reports anytime of day or night on our website.
New gallery shows and several artist events are coming to Salem this month, including a wildlife stamp competition and celebrations of Japanese culture.
