Good evening, Salem.

Across the city tonight, the future of Salem’s schools, parks, public safety and more is being discussed. Your Salem Reporter team is tuning into these events so we can stay on the pulse of the city and report what you need to know.

Following the defeat of Salem’s payroll tax, City Manager Keith Stahley is addressing the Northeast Neighbors annual meeting at 6:30 p.m to talk about the future of the city budget. There’s an agenda and Zoom link on the association’s website.

Meantime, City Councilor Jose Gonzalez, who opposed the tax, is holding a town hall from 6-7:30 p.m. sponsored by the Marion County Democrats. Gonzalez is a real estate agent and represents northeast Salem on the council. If you’d like to attend, you can learn more and register here.

And Salem-Keizer Superintendent Andrea Castañeda will give a financial update as the district faces a budget deficit during the Salem-Keizer School Board meets Tuesday evening starting at 6 p.m. You can watch live here.
