Your Friday evening update on Salem news

Good evening, Salem.
While it’s not quite summer weather, you can enjoy some time outdoors at the Salem Soap Box Derby track in Bush’s Pasture Park on Saturday and Sunday.
For the first time since 2019, soap box derby competitors will race on the track, with many hoping to qualify for the national championship. The event runs 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.
You can also observe Memorial Day in Salem, with a statewide ceremony Monday starting at 11 a.m. at the Oregon World War II memorial on the Capitol grounds.
We’ll have photographers at both events to capture these slices of Salem life. However you spend it, we hope you enjoy the weekend.
Our team will be off Monday, so look for your next edition of Salem Reporter in your inbox Tuesday morning.
