Good evening, Salem.

Basketball players are already hitting the courts outside of the Capitol.

Even though big Hoopla matches start this weekend, young players are doing drills and playing for fun in basketball clinics. At 10 a.m. Friday, Hoopla is hosting a free kids clinic in partnership with the Salem Family YMCA.

Matches of 2×2 will go from 1-8 p.m. tomorrow, and are free for anyone to watch. Games will take place on courts set up around the Oregon State Capitol on several streets. A Hoopla schedule is available here, along with a map of the courts set up around the Capitol.

Reporter Mirandah Davis-Powell spoke with Jason Unruh, Hoopla’s director, about this year’s event and future plans. Read her story here.
