Your Wednesday evening update on Salem news

Salem Reporter logo

Good evening, Salem.

Our librarians need your help to name an octopus.

The creature in question is gracing the steps in the main room of the library at 585 Liberty St. S.E. It’s the creation of local artist Bella Ramey, manager of the Art Department.

You can suggest names through Friday, Feb. 6, in person at the library or on the library’s Facebook post here.

It’s part of this year’s Salem Reads book, “Remarkably Bright Creatures,” which is in part narrated by a captive octopus. You can learn more about the program and this year’s book in our preview here.

Below is some of today’s news. Head to our website anytime for the latest in Salem.
