Good evening, Salem.
The atmospheric river is here – and currently dumping rain across the Pacific Northwest. That means some localized flooding and park and road closures in Salem and Marion County.
According to city officials, there are no current street closures in town, but there are areas of Salem where standing water could mean taking extra caution. The lower parking lot at Woodmansee Park is currently inundated with water, and a white oak tree fell in Bush’s Pasture Park across from the soap box derby track, officials said.
Pathways along Edgewater Parkway in West Salem are flooded after storm drains on Highway 22 became clogged. Signs have gone up while city crews work to clear the drains.
There are a few roads closed in Marion County due to the rains.
According to county officials the following roads remain closed:
Northeast Hazelgreen Road at Northeast Torvend Road, Hazelgreen Road at Pudding River Road, and Northeast Mt. Angel Highway.
County officials said sandbag distribution sites are listed online at MarionCountyDisaster.org and road closures at Road Closures & Advisories.
