Your Monday evening update on Salem news

Good evening, Salem.

If you went downtown on Saturday, you may have noticed that street parking was free.

The city of Salem announced on Facebook Saturday morning that it made downtown parking free for people visiting during the day to encourage more shopping and dining downtown during the holiday season.

This Saturday, Dec. 20, will be another free day of downtown street parking for whatever people are enjoying downtown, whether it’s taking pictures with Santa Claus at Salem’s Riverfront Carousel or listening to a Christmas guitar show at the Grand Theatre.
