Salem has seen just 1.05 inches of rainfall since May 1, about 28% of normal, according to an agency graphic shared Monday on the platform formerly known as Twitter.

That’s the second-driest summer since 1892 on record.

Salem has seen just seven days with any recorded rain from May-July 2023, compared with 21 typically. It’s yet another indication of hotter, drier summers in Salem, Oregon and much of the U.S.
