Good evening, Salem.

A sizable grass fire raised alarms southwest of Salem but firefighters quickly brought it under control.

Assistant Fire Chief Brian Carrara told Salem Reporter the grass fire, reported at 3774 E Nanitch Circle S., was around 3-5 acres in size at 3:50 p.m this afternoon.

Responders from the Salem Fire Department worked quickly to surround the fire and prevent it from threatening nearby homes, Carrara said. No one in the area had to evacuate.

The fire’s damage was limited to grass and a small shed. By 4:40 p.m., the fire was under control and firefighters were mopping up the scene, according to Carrara.
