Your Thursday evening update on Salem news

Good evening, Salem.
Fire crews contained the Liberty Fire in south Salem Wednesday evening, with no homes lost or people injured. The effort took over 100 first responders and forced hundreds from their homes as 25 acres burned.
City officials said the quick work of a nearby construction crew and early air support to drop water on the fire likely saved nearby neighborhoods from going up in smoke. Below is the latest information we have on the fire.
With hot weather and low humidity continuing for several days, fire crews are still monitoring the area, and residents should remain prepared to evacuate quickly.
