Your Monday evening update on Salem news

Good evening, Salem.

It’s hot out there. Temperatures at McNary Field just cracked 100 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

More of the same is on tap tomorrow, with a forecasted high of 100. Cooling centers remain open into the evening today and likely tomorrow – see our story below for more specifics.

The heat wave was one contributor to a firefighter injury on a Sunday night blaze that destroyed two mobile homes in south Salem. The combined heat from the fire and temperatures outside sent him to the hospital, where he was treated and released, according to Salem Fire officials.
