Your Wednesday evening update on Salem news

Good evening, Salem.
Melissa Glover, director of student services, will leave Salem at the end of the school year for a job in the North Santiam School District as director of special services. The district’s student services department oversees services for students receiving special education, which can include speech therapy, health accommodations and other supports.
Glover has worked in education for about 15 years, including as a special education teacher, and came to Salem-Keizer in 2015. She became director of student services in 2019.
“Partnering with families continues to be one of my favorite things to do in this line of work,” Glover wrote in a message to parents on the district’s Special Education Parent Advisory Council. “Each one of you has had a profound impact on how I choose to lead in this field, and I will never stop advocating for our kids who are systemically silenced by an educational system that often fails to see them as the valued assets they are within our school communities.”
