The Latest Stories For You From Salem Reporter

Good morning, Salem.
Former State Rep. Tracy Cramer, a Gervais Republican, and former Salem City Councilor Virginia Stapleton have filed to run for the Senate District 11 seat in 2026. Stapleton is seeking the Democratic nomination.
The district includes north Salem, Keizer and Woodburn.
That seat is held by Sen. Kim Thatcher, a Keizer Republican, who is barred from running for reelection undervstate law after participating in a 2023 Republican walkout.
Both women lost bids in 2024 for the Oregon House, with Cramer narrowly losing a second term to challenger Lesly Muñoz, while Salem attorney Rep. Kevin Mannix defeated Stapleton.
Meantime, both of Salem’s representatives are seeking another term. Mannix, a Republican, and Rep. Tom Andersen, a Democrat, have filed for reelection. So far, they have no challengers.
