Good morning, Salem.

A cardiologist and bestselling author will speak in Salem next week about caring for loved ones with dementia or Alzheimer’s Disease.

Dr. Sandeep Jauhar, author of “My Father’s Brain – Life in the Shadow of Alzheimer’s,” is also a regular contributor to NPR and the New York Times. The event is hosted by the nonprofit Salem Health Foundation.

“Dr. Jauhar writes of his own experience that sets his father’s descent into Alzheimer’s alongside his own journey toward understanding the disease and it might best be coped with, if not cured,” according to a statement from Salem Health. “His book is an essential insight into dementia, and into how scientists, caregivers, and all of us in an aging society are reckoning with the fallout.”

He will speak at three local, one-hour events:

  • Tuesday, June 11 at 10 a.m. – Dallas Retirement Village (Dallas), 377 N.W. Jasper St.
  • Tuesday, June 11 at 7 p.m. – Willamette University, Hudson Hall (Salem), 900 State St. Building #29
  • Wednesday, June 12 at 9 a.m. – Senior Estates Golf and Country Club (Woodburn), 1776 Country Club Rd.

Admission to the events is free but seating must be reserved online in advance
