Good morning, Salem.
The program helping families keep kids fed over summer break is back.
The Oregon Summer Electronic Benefits program, or EBT, gives eligible families a one-time payment of $120 per child to help buy groceries while their kids are at home for the summer. Funds will be put onto Oregon Trail Cards.
Families automatically get the summer benefit if they have children between 6-18 and qualified during the school year for foster care services, Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). A family only needs to have qualified for one of the programs to receive the benefit.
Some families may need to apply to get the payment. A full list of eligibility requirements is available on the state’s website here. Applications open June 5 and close Sept. 1.
Families can reach the summer program’s call center at 833-673-7328 on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Sept. 25, when the center closes. Click here for more information.
