Good morning, Salem.

You might see delays along Southeast Liberty Street in downtown Salem as city crews work to repave and improve the block next to Fire Station #1.

The improvements are one of many infrastructure projects underway after voters in 2022 approved a package of city spending on roads, pathways, parks fire equipment and other city improvements.

The project, which covers the block between Southeast Trade and Mill streets, includes new paving, stripes, ADA-compliant curb ramps and new sidewalk on the west side of the street.

The intersection will also have a designated bike stopping area with markers to separate it from vehicle traffic. Drivers should expect to see some lane closures as the work is completed.

The project began this week and will be completed toward the end of the year.
