Good morning, Salem.

Celebrate Salem’s local rivers and streams this Saturday, June 13, at Minto-Brown Island Park pavilion from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Our River Celebration is free and for the entire family to learn about Salem’s waterways through interactive activities like guided plant walks and learning stations led by local educators, naturalists and city staff.

The park is located at 2200 Minto Brown Island Park Rd. S.W. To reach the pavilion area, continue straight on the road as you enter the park until it ends and you see signs for Parking Lot No. 3, which is nearest to the pavilion.

READERS REACT: READERS REACT: “This story shows how a skilled reporter can get past the press release and tell a true story. Madeleine Moore brought humanity into this project from both sides — the people being served and the people doing this stressful work. I’ll look at our downtown neighbors in crisis with a little more compassion now. Thank you.” Barbara M. on a report about the work of a new program bringing mental health care to Salem’s streets.
