The Latest Stories For You From Salem Reporter

Good morning, Salem.
The Oregon Government Ethics Commission recently approved settlements, issuing the leaders a letter of education and no other sanction. The settlements detail how the alliance twice failed to publicly post its agenda in the time required by law. The meetings were on Dec. 3, 2024, and Jan. 9, 2025.
When Salem Reporter shared the commission’s findings last month, 11 board members were named, including Marion County Commissioner Danielle Bethell, Keizer Mayor Cathy Clark, former Salem Mayor Chris Hoy and others in Salem’s homeless and health care services.
The ethics commission meets again this week. The agenda shows that three additional members of the alliance’s board reached settlements for the same meetings: Polk County Commissioner Jeremy Gordon, Salem City Councilor Micki Varney and Rhonda Wolf, CEO of United Way of the Mid-Willamette Valley.
