Good morning, Salem.
American Sign Language classes won’t continue at West Salem High School next year.
Principal Carlos Ruiz announced that change earlier this month, citing recent budget cuts which have many district middle and high schools cutting back on the classes they offer after losing some teachers.
School district leaders are due to present their budget plan to the Salem-Keizer Budget Committee next week on Tuesday, May 5. We’ve explained the cuts, but we’d like to hear how they’re hitting local schools.
