Good morning, Salem.
A Salem man has been charged with a bias crime for assaulting and seriously injuring a Ukrainian refugee in May because of his national origin.
The victim told police he and his wife moved to the U.S. in April as refugees, and was living with family in Keizer. He told police he was blinded in one eye as a result of an attack from a man who was saying slurs and insulting Ukrainians, according to records.
