Good morning, Salem.

A Salem man was sentenced earlier this week to 15 and a half years in prison for shooting and killing 37-year-old Roberto G. Gorie of Salem in February 2022.

After initially being charged with second-degree murder, Ivan Herrera-Ortiz pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter in January.

Deputies said following the shooting that they found Gorie’s body in a car that was “on its top” in a residential area of east Salem. Find that story below.
