Good morning, Salem.

Earlier this week, the Oregon Humane Society’s Salem Campus celebrated an expansion to its veterinary clinic that added a digital radiology suite and additional treatment room.

That means that every year, thousands of Salem shelter pets will have in-house access to x-rays and dental care. A Tuesday, Aug. 20, ribbon cutting celebrated the project’s completion.

The $732,000 project started in January, the majority of it funded by donations, according to the organization. Its the largest expansion of medical services at the Salem location since it opened a spay and neuter clinic in 2010.

The equipment is already in use, said Laura Klink, shelter spokeswoman. Before the installation, pets had to be driven up the Interstate 5 to receive care.
