Police earlier this month started publishing a log of a selection of calls officers responded to. Many of you said you’d like to see the information in our newsletter, so we’re again publishing the most recent update from Saturday, Oct. 28.

Domestic violence (10/23, 1105) 600 block Commercial ST NE
Salem Police patrol officers responded to Arches after a Grande Ronde Tribal Police detective called for cover when he was assaulted while at the location conducting case follow-up. The 19-year-old suspect was arrested on charges of assault on a police officer. The detective was transported to the hospital for minor injuries received in the incident.
Shots fired (10/24, 1952) 2400 block Coral AV NE
Reports of gunfire in the area of Coral AV & Wolverine ST NE. Officers located spent cases. One building in the business complex had window damage. No physical injuries reported.
DOAs (10/26, 0443 and 0509) 2400 block of Coral AV and 3900 block of Devonshire AV NE
Two instances of individuals found deceased on Thursday morning: A 44-year-old woman was found dead in her tent due to a drug overdose, and a man in his 30s camped in the landscaping of a business was located deceased. Medical examiner responded to the scenes. No obvious signs of foul play in either incident.
Unlawful use of a weapon (10/26, 0900) 1900 block Turner RD SE
A verbal altercation between two young adults known to each other resulted in the 19-year-old brandishing a handgun in his waistband. The suspect was located and arrested on charges of menacing, unlawful use of a weapon, and because the handgun’s serial number was obliterated, a charge of altering the identification of a firearm.
