Good morning, Salem.
City officials last week announced the opening of a new earthquake-safe Public Works Department building to the tune of $39 million.
The 50,000-square-foot space will replace the department’s previous 1950s-era building.
It will have a combined office space for public works operations, engineering, parks and recreation, as well as administrative staff who design and maintain city infrastructure, manage utilities and answer calls from the public. Find that story below.
