Good morning, Salem.
You’ll be able to dispose of yard waste starting Monday, Oct. 2, at Marion County’s Brown’s Island Compost Facility, 2895 Faragate St. S. Disposal costs $15 minimum for up to 2 cubic yards, and $10 per cubic yard after.
Fees to dispose of other items at county landfills are increasing in October. Small tires without a rim will be $5, while those with a rim will be $10. Appliances with refrigerant, including refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners, will be $25 each.

A Town Hall open and free to the public will explore issues around Salem’s new wage tax. Salem Reporter is hosting the event Wednesday, Oct. 11, at the Elsinore Theatre at 6 p.m. Voters will get a chance to decide whether the tax stays in November.
