We’ve seen reports of mailers being sent out from Refer the Tax on Salem Workers, the group funding a campaign to get the wage tax recently approved by the Salem City Council on the November ballot.
Oregon Business & Industry filed a petition seeking a referendum after councilors narrowly approved the tax in a 5-4 vote July 10. The tax would fund police, fire and homeless services for the city, which otherwise faces a significant budget gap.
