Good morning, Salem.
A local philanthropist is slated to speak later this month about issues of racial justice and equity in Salem.
Chris Pineda is the executive director of Groundwork, a local organization founded in 2019 that focuses on leadership development.
His presentation scheduled for Thursday, July 27, is titled, “The Gap Between Reality and Potential: Stepping into Personal and Collective Responsibility for Racial Justice and Equity in Our Community.”
The event will be held by Community Business and Education Leaders, a collaboration started in 2019 by Mountain West Investment Corporation president Larry Tokarski to address family and educational needs within the Salem-Keizer School District. (Disclosure: Tokarski is a co-founder of Salem Reporter.)
“Chris provides perspective, consultation, and support to several of Mountain West Investment Corporation’s philanthropic endeavors related to: turning the community outward, research and development for our philanthropic approach and sustainment, conflict transformation, and leadership development,” according to an event listing.
